ERIS’ Dave Colonna, Director of Lender Services, speaks with John Rybak, Senior Vice President, Environmental Risk Manager, Truist Financial. John shares his views on managing risk, planning during uncertain economic times, and what steps can be taken to address slowdowns. The discussion outlines the differences between what’s happening now compared to during the mortgage crisis of 2008/9, and during the pandemic of 2020. Senior Vice President, Environmental Risk Manager, Truist Financial

He is Senior Vice President and Environmental Risk Manager for Truist Financial. He has over 30 years of environmental due diligence experience with four different regional banks. John has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Buffalo, and an MBA from Canisius College. His focus is on risk management and risk awareness for the bank. John is heavily involved in talent selection and coaching, including vendors and review staff, and the implementation of a quality assurance quality control program based on education, clear definitions of quality, measurements and feedback loops to vendors/staff. John has served on the Environmental Bankers Association board dating back to 1997 and is currently serving in the office of Vice President.
